Georgia authorities have released chilling audio recordings of 911 calls made on the day of the Apalachee High School shooting.
The Barrow County 911 call center received a large number of calls beginning at approximately 10:20 a.m. regarding the tragic shooting that left two teachers and two students dead, according to Fox News.
The footage shows the terror unleashed after 14-year-old Colt Gray opened fire on Sept. 4.
The calls came from horrified parents of students at Apalachee High School and nearby schools, as well as loved ones of school staff.
One panicked caller said: “My daughter called me crying. Someone said, ‘boom, boom, boom, boom.'”
Colt Gray, 14, killed two teachers and two students and injured nine others on September 4.
Gray’s father bought him the gun he allegedly used in the fatal shooting.
But the abundance of calls resulted in long wait times.
A man, who called after reading text messages from his girlfriend, was put on hold for more than 10 minutes, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
He said, ‘She hears people screaming outside, so I don’t know if they’re officers in the building or… I don’t know.’
Many of the recorded emergency calls cannot be released under Georgia law because they contain “the speech or screams of minors,” according to a letter obtained by FOX 5 Atlanta.
Calls flooded to a neighboring county’s call center as parents desperately searched for answers.
Gray and his father were questioned about threats made on Discord about a school shooting.
Colin Gray, the shooter’s father, was charged with two counts of murder after the fatal incident.
A caller said, “Sir, my daughter goes to school next to Apalachee. Is there a shooter at the school?”
“We have an active situation at Apalachee High School right now. We have a lot of calls coming in,” a dispatcher responded.
More than 500 radio communications were also posted between emergency response teams, according to The Associated Press.
Emergency radio recordings and dispatch records were obtained by CNN.
An officer yelled, ‘Active shooter!’
In another recording, an officer is heard saying that a child is on the phone with his father and that “they’re in the art room, locked in.”

Colt comes from a troubled family, including his mother Marcee, who has an extensive criminal record.
The shooter’s disturbing family history has come to light, including his criminal mother, Marcee, who has a history of drug abuse, domestic violence, fraud and property damage.
Gray’s father, Colin, has been charged with two counts of murder in connection with his son’s shooting.
He bought his son the AR-15 allegedly used during the shooting, took him hunting and reportedly called the 14-year-old boy a “sissy,” according to relatives.
Gray is being charged as an adult for the shooting.
This shooting marked the 45th school shooting in 2024 and is the deadliest since the March 2023 shooting at Convent School in Nashville, according to CNN.
