His fellow police officers were at attention and greeted when he was driven out of the medical center of Mount Sinai in a hospital coat and helped into a waiting car.

The 9th District officer was shot while chasing the suspect on foot from the Home Depot store at the 2400 block of West 46th Street, superintendant David Brown said at a news conference.
