Chicago Bulls commentator announces tweet from FAKE account Adrian Wojnarowski

Chicago Bulls commentators Stacey King and Adam Amin fell for a tweet from a fake Adrian Wojnarowski account about Derrick Rose retiring from the NBA.

While falsely using the name and photo of the ESPN NBA insider, User X lists this as a “satire/parody” account in his bio. On Saturday, the fake account, which has 11.8k subscribers, tweeted that Rose – a former MVP – retired after 15 seasons.

King, a former Bulls forward, saw the tweet during NBC Sports Chicago’s broadcast of the Bulls-Wizards game and announced the false information on air.

“It was on the Internet that Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Derrick Rose was retiring after 15 seasons,” King said.

” And that ? Wow, think about the impact the Bulls have already had tonight,” Amin responded. “The arrival of Dennis Rodman, and now Derrick Rose (retired) after 15 seasons in the NBA.”

The Bulls drafted Rose from the University of Memphis with the first overall pick in 2008.

In 2011, the explosive point guard became the youngest regular season MVP at age 22. Rose led Chicago to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2011 before losing to LeBron James and the Miami Heat in a gentleman’s game.

The following year, Rose tore his ACL in a playoff game against the Philadelphia 76ers and hasn’t been the same since.

Rose left Chicago in 2016 but left his mark as one of the franchise’s best players despite failing to win a championship. He spent short stints as a role player for the New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Minnesota Timberwolves and Detroit Pistons.

In 2023, he joined the Memphis Grizzlies and averaged eight points, 1.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. The Grizzlies are 13th in the Western Conference with a 23-45 record.
