Chet Hanks was the butt of jokes after he declared on Friday that the coming summer of 2021 would be ‘white boys’ summer.

The 30-year-old rapper and son of Tom Hanks instantly became the main character on Twitter when some people made fun of his statement, while others accused him of racism.

“I just got the feeling, man, it’s about to turn into a white boy’s summer this summer,” he said blankly.

“Take it however you want,” he continued. “I’m not talking about Trump, white Nascar-type boy summer, I’m talking about me, Jon B, Jack Harlow-type white boy summer. You know what I mean? Let me know if you can. ‘

He added in his caption, ‘Is it about to become a #WhiteboySummer or am I tripping ???? Tag a REAL vanilla king #Respectful. ‘

Some Twitter users were quick to point out that ‘white boy summer’ wasn’t exactly a new idea.

“Someone tells Chet Hanks that we’ve been doing white boys’ summer for a few thousand years,” wrote one user.

Many social media users joked about how different Chet was from his actor father Tom Hanks and his mother Rita Wilson.

“Chet Hanks is proof that you can do anything right in the world and kids will still embarrass you,” another person joked, referring to Tom’s beloved public persona.

One person joked that Chet was the result of a monkey’s situation with his father.
