Cheryl Hines’ stoic reaction to husband RFK Jr.’s affair with star reporter Olivia Nuzzi on her 59th birthday trip during Milan Fashion Week

Cheryl Hines is reportedly dodging questions about her husband Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s explosive sexting scandal.

Last week, the 70-year-old former presidential candidate’s alleged affair with New York Magazine political reporter Olivia Nuzzi, 31, was exposed.

The two met in 2023 when Nuzzi, who has since been placed on leave amid the fallout, visited the $7 million California home Kennedy shares with Hines to write a profile about him.

Kennedy denied having an inappropriate “personal relationship” with Nuzzi and insists he only met her “once in his life.”

Hines has since been seen without his wedding ring and RFK Jr. was notably absent from his 59th birthday celebration in Milan over the weekend.

And now, Puck has reported that Hines refused to discuss the scandal while attending a Milan Fashion Week show on Saturday.

Asked about the allegations at the Bally show, Hines “politely declined to comment.”

Despite the drama in her personal life, Puck reporter Lauren Sherman described Hines as “totally fresh and clean” at the fashion show.

“Going out and looking good while your world is imploding is a frequently used tactic and is often effective,” Sherman added.

Hines’ sighting at MFW comes days after she celebrated her 59th birthday alongside daughter Catherine Rose Young, 20, and stepdaughter Kyra LeMoyne Kennedy, 29, in Milan on Saturday night.

RFK Jr. was a no-show and Hines was also spotted without her large diamond wedding ring during the same weekend.

She and Kennedy married in August 2014 after three years of dating.

The Curb Your Enthusiasm actress shared precious moments from her birthday dinner via Instagram.

Dressed in a white lace turtleneck top and black pants, she captioned the photo of herself with her daughters: ‘Me and my girls,’ while RFK was nowhere to be seen.

He also skipped his niece Grace Kennedy Allen’s wedding reception over the weekend amid the scandal surrounding their affair.

Meanwhile, New York Magazine placed Nuzzi on leave after details of the affair emerged.

Nuzzi admitted in a statement to DailyMail.com that “the nature of some communications between me and a former reporter became personal,” but claimed the relationship was never physical.

Days later, a tweet she wrote in 2015 came back to haunt her: Eagle-eyed social media users spotted a post she made asking, “Why does Hollywood think female journalists sleep with their sources?” along with a link to a NYMag story.

Nuzzi’s relationship with the political heavyweight began when she visited his $7 million home in California to write an article last year.

RFK Jr. has insisted that he only met with the political reporter on this one occasion.

“Mr. Kennedy only met Olivia Nuzzi once in his life for an interview she requested, which resulted in a sensational article,” his spokesperson told CNN.

A source added that the nature of the relationship was “emotional and digital, not physical.”

But sources close to the pair told the New York Post that the pair had been sexting despite RFK Jr. being married and Nuzzi being engaged at the time.

“Earlier this year, the nature of some communications between me and a former reporter became personal,” Nuzzi said.

“During that time I did not report directly on the subject nor did I use them as a source,” he said.

“The relationship was never physical, but it should have been disclosed to avoid the appearance of conflict. I deeply regret not doing so immediately and apologize to those I have disappointed, especially my colleagues in New York.”

New York magazine acknowledged an inappropriate relationship in a statement about Nuzzi’s hiatus, calling it “a violation of the magazine’s standards around conflicts of interest and disclosures.”

“Had the magazine been aware of this relationship, she would not have continued to cover the presidential campaign,” the statement said. “An internal review of her published work found no inaccuracies or evidence of bias.”

“He is currently on leave from the journal and the journal is conducting a more thorough third-party review. We regret this violation of our readers’ trust.”

RFK Jr. made his first appearance since the scandal broke when he appeared at an event on Capitol Hill on Monday, where he posed for photos with prominent Republican lawmakers.

Ahead of Monday’s event, Republican Rep. Thomas Massie shared a photo with Kennedy and noted that they had dinner together Sunday night.

Fellow Republicans Sen. Ted Cruz and Rep. Chip Roy also shared photos with Kennedy, while Sen. Ron Johnson invited him to participate in a panel discussion titled, “American Health and Nutrition: A Second Opinion.”

The Washington tour comes at a time when Kennedy is reportedly considering suing Nuzzi over pornographic content she sent him.

Jessica Read Kraus, author of the popular House Inhabit Substack, wrote Saturday that Kennedy is exploring his legal options after Nuzzi allegedly “bombarded him with increasingly pornographic photos and videos.”
