Cher has revealed that she lost her virginity at age 14 to get revenge on her older boyfriend in a shocking admission from her newly released memoir, Cher: The Memoir, Part One.
The music icon, now 78, detailed how she became involved with a “cute” Italian high school senior in the early 1960s, but decided to “lend him her virginity” after he embarrassed her in front of his friends.
She writes: ‘An Italian family on our street had a cute son who was a senior in high school. He spent his weekends working on his hot rod while I handed him tools. Then he would come to my room, we would kiss, he wanted me to hold his other tool and I would say no. I liked his black roadster more than him.
‘Not that sex was far from my mind then, as the main conversations among the girls at school were about how they spent their weekends playing with the boys but never went to “fourth base.”
“It all seemed too casual to me, like they were crossing things off a list. As someone who played sports, I got tired of their euphemisms and told them, “You’re so childish. You won’t play baseball, idiots. You’re having sex! I mean, who did you think it was, Joe DiMaggio?

‘The neighbor was quite sweet when we were alone, but as soon as his friends came over, he treated me like a shameful child.
“One day, when his friends suggested a trip to Bob’s Big Boy, he said, ‘Okay, let me look for Cher.’ They laughed and said, ‘Will you take that kid?’ and he abandoned me. I felt so hurt when he did that that I had revenge sex with him.
I’d never wanted it, otherwise I would have done it one of the other five hundred times he asked me for it. But I was so angry about the dismissal that I decided, if not to lose, to lend him my virginity.
Cher said she fired the teenager after the ‘hugely overrated experience came to an end, writing: ‘I asked him, “Is that it? Are we done? Then I told him to go home and never come back. I wanted him to feel as unappreciated as he had made me feel. Although he kept trying to make it up to me, I never spoke to him again.
“At school, I informed my friends that the ‘thing’ they were constantly talking about wasn’t a big deal and that they should just keep kissing.”
Sadly, Cher has faced numerous heartbreaks throughout her decades-long career, starting with her first marriage to Sonny Bono, whom she met when she was just 16 and he was 27.
The two soon fell in love, married in 1964, and formed the musical duo Sonny & Cher a year later, which became one of the biggest acts of all time and propelled them both to major stardom.
But as their careers flourished, behind the scenes, their relationship began to fall apart; Cher later claimed that Sonny didn’t give her “any freedom” during the height of her success and that he “didn’t let her do anything.” anything except work.’
The star’s highly anticipated memoir was released on November 19.

Unfortunately, Cher has faced numerous heartbreaks throughout her decades-long career, beginning with her first marriage to Sonny Bono, whom she met when she was just 16 and he was 27. Pictured in 1972 with her son Chaz Bono.
Cher was married to Gregg Allman from 1975 to 1978 and the couple share a son, Elijah Blue. They are seen in 1976.
She also accused him of being unfaithful and admitted that things got so bad that she once considered taking her own life.
The two eventually separated in 1974, but Cher faced another blow when during divorce proceedings it was revealed that he was in control of 95 percent of the money they had earned together, while her lawyer owned the other five percent.
After their split, Cher was left with absolutely nothing except a broken heart, but she didn’t give up and became one of the most successful artists of all time.
Some of her other failed relationships include her brief romance with business magnate David Geffen, who came out as gay after they separated, her marriage to musician Gregg Allman, which ended due to his drug addiction, and her relationship with Bon. Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora, who allegedly cheated on her with a fan.
Gregg was the man Cher eventually left David for: a musician who was a member of the Allman Brothers Band.
The two met when she attended one of Gregg’s concerts at the Troubadour in Los Angeles with her then-boyfriend David, and soon became involved in a whirlwind romance.
“She smelled like I imagine a mermaid would smell,” she later told Rolling Stone of the night they met.
But he described his first encounter as a “disaster” because he “passed out in the bathroom, high on heroin.”
Still, the couple began dating and decided to get married just two months into their romance, tying the knot at a wedding in Las Vegas on June 30, 1975 at Caesars Palace.
But things quickly went awry due to Gregg’s drug addiction, and he recalled to Rolling Stone: “There was one problem: She didn’t realize I was a hophead.”
“So I woke up one morning and said, ‘Look, I have to tell you something. I’m addicted to narcotics.” “Well, how do you fix that?” she asked.
‘I didn’t get much of a response beyond “Well…” “I know what we’re going to do,” he said. “We’ll go back to Los Angeles and I’ll have my doctor friend prescribe you a big batch of Quaaludes and you’ll be able to sleep while you wake up, it’ll all be over.”
‘I tried, what the hell, but of course it didn’t work. Still, Cher was pretty elated that I told her the truth about my addiction.
Nine days after getting married, they decided to divorce, but their relationship did not end there. They got back together a month later and together welcomed a son, named Elijah Blue, in 1976.
They also released a joint album, called Two the Hard Way, in 1977. But after four years together, in 1979, they officially went their separate ways.
“We had our good times, we had our bad times,” he said. “We were just different in a lot of ways… I was really glad she never asked me what I thought of her singing, because I’m sorry, but she’s not a very good singer.”
Cher has been in a relationship with music producer Alexander ‘AE’ Edwards, 38, since late 2022 (pictured last month).
‘Looking back, I think I was trying to find a friend, even if I had to marry one. The thing is, I really love women. I’ve always done it.
Cher spoke positively of her time with Gregg while chatting with People afterward, explaining, “I just didn’t have the juice anymore.” He is the kindest, gentlest and most loving husband and father. But then he forgets and everything goes to shit.
‘I still worry a lot about him because I never loved anyone like I loved him. But I don’t love him anymore.’
Cher has been in a relationship with music producer Alexander ‘AE’ Edwards, 38, since late 2022.
