Thrifty Australian shoppers were delighted after discovering a $15 “copy” of Aesop’s most popular body care products at Chemist Warehouse.
Aesop is known for its high-quality product, sophisticated packaging, and for being one of the most expensive offerings in its category.
Loyal fans often criticize premium products, but drugstore’s latest offering, Ovid, seems to have won over many of them.
Many shoppers said they had noticed the affordable range of hand and body soaps had the “most stunning scents”.
“I ran in and bought the whole range, they smell amazing,” one woman praised.
“This is the only body wash my husband has asked me to repeat,” said another.
The Australian made range is exclusive to Chemist Warehouse.
The packaging is subtle and sophisticated, but it doesn’t have the same distinctive look as luxury cosmetics brand Aesop.
Ovid has been dubbed the economic version of Aesop
The products have a ‘similar vibe’ according to fans.
“The packaging is more my vibe,” said one Aesop fan.
But not everyone was impressed.
“All sources are sending me,” one person said.
Other fans have been calling for a hoax.
One woman posted a video showing off her Aesop Resurrection hand soap and said: “I have issues with this scent.”
“It costs $40 and I’ll keep buying it, but where’s the sucker?”
