Chelsea are reportedly poised to make their first Todd Boehly-era signing by going ahead with a €50 million (£43 million) bid for Matheus Nunes.
According to a report from the Portuguese outlet a bolaChelsea are ready to ‘attack’ the market and make an offer for the Sporting Lisbon midfielder.
Wolves are said to have an interest in Nunes, but the report says a move to Molineux is ‘not attractive’, leaving the door open for Chelsea to plot their move.
Thomas Tuchel has so far made no additions this summer, despite interest in defender Jules Koude, Raheem Sterling and Raphinha, as well as growing rumors surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo and now Nunes.
New Chelsea owner Boehly is looking to make an immediate impact at the club this summer and Nunes would be a smart move in refreshing the club’s midfield options.
The 23-year-old central midfielder shone in the Champions League last season, shining so brightly that Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola even singled him out for praise.
“Sporting is a fantastic team, they are the champions of Portugal, who have a very strong competition, with Porto and Benfica, they change the ball well, they have fast and intelligent players,” said Guardiola.
“I would say Matheus Nunes is one of the best players in the world today.”
