Chelsea will likely have to break the bank on wages if they are to take home their top prize, Erling Haaland, this summer.
The Blues have long been admirers of the Norwegian star and are among the frontrunners to get his autograph, although Haaland has indicated that he prefers to stay with Borussia Dortmund this campaign.
However, any deal to be struck in the current transfer window would almost certainly mean Chelsea must make Haaland the biggest earner at the club, according to the athletic.

That title is currently held by star midfielder dynamo N’Golo Kante, who is paid a whopping £290,000 a week.
Haaland’s father Alf-Inge and agent Mino Raiola have courted on behalf of the 20-year-old and want to get him a huge contract.
A major stumbling block for Chelsea and others looking to sign Haaland this summer is the massive fee Dortmund are demanding of more than £150 million. The Norwegian could leave next year for just £65million due to a clause in his current contract.

Haaland’s departure seems increasingly likely to happen next season after he signed up for pre-season preparation at Dortmund and expressed his excitement at working with new boss Marco Rose.
Haaland told Stadium Astro: ‘I had a little chat with new manager Marco Rose. I know him from back in the day because I was with him in Salzburg for six months. He’s a nice guy and I look forward to working with him.”
Another potentially major complication for Chelsea is Italian giants Juventus, who are also planning a transfer to replace Cristiano Ronaldo next season, according to Haaland. The Republic.
Earlier this week, reports in Germany claimed that Roman Abramovich had cleared the money for the Blues to bring in Haaland for £150m, although they would have to include one of Hakim Ziyech, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Tammy Abraham as part of the deal.

However, Juventus could prevent a deal from going through as the club reportedly has a good relationship with Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola.
Raiola helped Juve sign former Ajax defender Matthijs De Ligt in 2019, despite the increasing interest from the Barcelona camp at the time.
