Alvaro Morata has taken out an 18-month loan from Chelsea to Atletico Madrid.
The striker formalized the long-awaited move after Monaco signed a loan deal for Atletico Madrid winger Gelson Martins, freeing up space for Morata.
The Spaniard had fallen out of favor with Chelsea under Maurizio Sarri and was pushed further into the pecking order by the arrival of Gonzalo Higuain.

The signing of Higuain’s loan by Juventus, after ending a temporary spell with AC Milan, paved the way for Morata’s departure from the West London club.
