Chelsea could be set for a summer of deals with Saudi Arabia after it emerged club president Todd Boehly met Michael Emenalo during a recent visit to the Middle Eastern country’s capital.

Emenalo is the director of football for the Saudi Pro League and previously held a boardroom position at Chelsea.

The meeting, which was understood to have taken place in Riyadh in the last fortnight, will only increase speculation that the club is looking to transfer players to Saudi Arabia.

Riyadh Air has also been linked with the possibility of becoming the club’s new shirt sponsor for next season.

Chelsea sold Kalidou Koulibaly and Edouard Mendy to Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli last summer to raise £33m, while N’Golo Kante joined Al-Ittihad on a free transfer.

Meanwhile, Infinite Athlete signed a £40m deal with Chelsea in September after the club started this season without a shirt sponsor.

There is a long-term partnership between the two, although they are currently in talks to decide whether that should include sponsorship or simply focus on the technological developments they can offer.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are exploring their options for other shirt sponsors, including Riyadh Air and other airlines.
