Thomas Tuchel believes Mason Mount has ‘the full package’ amid rave reviews from Chelsea’s English star.
Mount was on the first of Kai Havertz’s brace as Chelsea drove past Fulham 2-0 at Stamford Bridge to cement fourth place in the Premier League table.
Havertz starred in the role of false nine in doubling his league total for the campaign, while Mount only produced the latter in a string of top performances.
Thomas Tuchel has labeled Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount on Saturday as ‘the full package’
Mount produced the latest in a series of top performances against Fulham on Saturday
Tuchel left Mount out in his first game at the helm of Chelsea when the Blues battled Wolves for a goalless draw on January 21, but the academy graduate has been steadily winning over his new boss since that day – and then some.
German manager Tuchel admitted that Mount is already among the best in Europe at the age of 22.
“He’s got the full package, mentally, talented and physically,” said Tuchel.
‘And the most important thing is his character, he’s got his feet on the ground and he’s a nice guy.
‘He comes to Cobham every day to learn something new and have new experiences.
He is the man who can recover very quickly, he is a very physical player and fully adapted to Premier League football.
‘He’s very confident in a very, very positive way. It is a pleasure to have him, to be by his side and to guide and support him.
‘It’s impressive, he’s not bothered by all the praise. This is perhaps the most important part.
He seems to be a man who loves the sport and feels obligated to get the best out of it. And he really wants it, so it’s a top mix. ‘
Tuchel left Mount out of his first game as Chelsea boss, but he is now invaluable
Mount was hit on the back and was replaced late when Chelsea got an 18th out under Tuchel at Stamford Bridge.
However, the Blues boss insisted that the in-form striker should be in no doubt for Wednesday’s second leg in the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid.
Asked if Mount picked up an injury, Tuchel said, “I hope not, it was my decision, there wasn’t a single doctor or physiotherapist telling me to take it off.
‘But I saw it land hard and it was the moment when we wanted to take it off anyway.
“I saw him holding his back a bit, so we didn’t want to take any chances, but I don’t have any other information on that.”
Mount was on Kai Havertz’s first brace when Chelsea beat Fulham 2-0 at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea negotiated their tricky Fulham tie in style, especially with their two-legged clash with European giants Madrid.
Tuchel put a lot of praise at the feet of the players he sent into battle, admitting that limiting their attention to this clash was a great test.
“This is the perfect match and the guys get a lot of praise from the coach for this,” said Tuchel.
‘You can easily get confused between two big games this way. It was therefore imperative that we prepared for the match with full attention.
‘It was important that we fully invested physically and mentally. That’s why the team gets all the credit, it was a big win and we can arrive with a clear mind and nothing to regret or think about before Wednesday. ‘
