Chelsea ‘are interested in signing THIRD Barcelona player amid their ‘serious’ chase of Gavi’
Chelsea ‘is interested in signing a THIRD Barcelona player amid their ‘serious’ pursuit of young midfielder Gavi’… with the club already showing interest in Frenkie de Jong and Sergino Dest this month
- Chelsea have already been linked with a £33m transfer for Frenkie de Jong
- Blues also considered Sergino Dest one of their full-back options this month
- But now they are reportedly on the hunt for Barcelona star Gavi in a £42m deal
- Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Man City are also interested in Spanish midfielder
Chelsea are reportedly ‘very serious’ in their hunt for young midfielder Gavi, bringing the number of Barcelona players they are interested in to three.
The Blues have already been linked with midfielder Frenkie de Jong, with reports earlier this week that they have made an opening offer of £33million for the Holland international.
sports post Meanwhile, earlier this month it was reported that fullback Sergino Dest was one of the options being considered by Thomas Tuchel this month, following news that left-back Ben Chilwell will miss the rest of the season.

But now Catalan outlet El Nacional claim Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is excited about a third Barcelona star in the form of 17-year-old Spain international Gavi.
The report claims that Gavi would cost in the region of £42m (€50m) as a result of the low release clause in his current contract, and that the European champions will offer him a significant increase in his youth team salary from a reported £1,600 a week.
However, the same outlet claims there are currently two stumbling blocks, the first being that talks to sign Gavi have not progressed as Chelsea had hoped.
The second, they add, is that there is fierce competition for the midfielder’s signature, with Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Manchester City also vying to sign him.

And Xavi last month demanded that Barcelona tie their academy starlet to a new deal following the 17-year-old’s impressive breakthrough campaign, something the latest report claims they are trying to do.
“We must act now to renew him (Gavi),” he told MARCA. ‘If necessary, we will find a way to raise money.
‘He and Ansu’ [Fati], Pedro, [Ronald] Araujo are important to us. He is one of the future players of the club and we are working on his renewal.”
Gavi has made 25 appearances for Xavi’s men in all competitions this season, most recently in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final defeat to Real Madrid in Saudi Arabia.
