Chelsea have reportedly agreed a deal with Lyon boss Sonia Bopastor to succeed departing Emma Hayes at the end of the season.
The Blues have been searching for Hayes’ replacement after she announced she would be leaving the club in the summer to become the new head coach of the US women’s national team.
According the TelegraphChelsea have agreed a deal for Bompastor and his assistant Camille Abily to join the club this summer.
Compensation has reportedly been agreed with the French side, as Bopastor’s contract was due to last until 2025.
Mail Sport understands that Chelsea have been pushing for a deal for Bompastor, but Lyon were determined to keep their head coach.

Hayes leaves Chelsea to become the United States national team coach after a trophy-laden spell at the club.
Bopastor has led Lyon since 2021 after replacing the fired Jean-Luc Vasseur.
The former France international was promoted from her position in the club’s youth system.
Her first season was rewarded with Lyon winning a spectacular double consisting of the Women’s Division 1 and the Women’s Champions League, where the club beat Barcelona in the final.
Bompastor’s attacking philosophy has made Lyon one of the most feared teams in women’s football after winning the league with an unbeaten record during her first full season in charge.
The 43-year-old has led the club to the French title in the last two seasons, as well as the French Cup in 2023.
Bompastor has won the Women’s Champions League as a player and as a coach
She is the only coach to have won the Women’s Champions League in the last 15 years.
Bompastor’s Lyon beat Barcelona 3-1 in the 2022 final in Turin.
Lyon will face rivals PSG in an all-French Women’s Champions League semi-final this month, as the record winners seek their ninth title.
Bopastor could face his future employers as Chelsea face defending champions Barcelona in the second semi-final.
