The Chase star Anne Hegerty has said there are no downsides to money and fame and declared she “loves being rich” as she revealed her life as The Governess.

The professional contestant, 66, has appeared as the very strict and stern governess on the ITV game show since 2010, and then appeared on I’m A Celeb in 2018.

Speaking about life in the spotlight with Bella magazine, Anne said there are “no downsides” to being rich. “I like being famous,” she added.

Speaking about her recent weight loss, which Anne attributed to her wealth, she said: “I find I’m not as hungry these days – it’s to do with being rich. It’s great, I love being rich.”

The TV personality also offered some insight into her love life, as when asked if she had ever used dating apps, she joked: “No, because I’m scared I’ll end up having to have a boyfriend.”

Anne said she finds it difficult to maintain relationships and admitted that her longest one was only four months.

She said she likes being alone and admitted to feeling “a little pressured” in relationships.

And fans of The Chase can rest easy, as Anne revealed she has no plans to leave the game show.

She recalled a conversation with Coronation Street actress Helen Worth at the Pride of Manchester awards, where she told the soap star she would never become that person who “walked out of a really successful reality show because they thought they could do better and then was never heard from again”.

Anne’s career has only grown since her time as The Governess on the game show, after she revealed in April that she had been cast in a short film.

She said Daily staffto: ‘I’ve been asked to take part in the film and I’ve decided to do it. We’re going to make it in the next few months.

“I don’t think I get nervous. It’s not in front of an audience. If I was, I’d be thinking, ‘Oh my God, am I going to forget my lines? ‘”

“But since there won’t be an audience watching me, I’m not worried.”

Anne, who has appeared on the ITV show since 2010, also revealed whether her new role would mean she would be leaving the series.

He told the publication: ‘I have no plans to retire. (The Chase is) the little workhorse that makes everything else possible, and I love doing it.

“It’s the best job I’ve ever had, so I’m happy to continue as long as they want.”

Anne previously revealed she opted not to appear in the final series of Dancing On Ice to prioritise her role in the Chesterfield pantomime Aladdin.

Talking with The mirror Last year she explained: ‘I tried Dancing on Ice because I have a strong desire to master ice skating.

‘However, scheduling conflicts arose with pantomime, and the appeal of being on stage, interacting with the audience, acting, singing and injecting humour… that experience had significant value for me.

“I would have ended up being dragged by a penguin and would never have been able to skate. That would have been quite discouraging.”

She has previously spoken openly about how she copes with autism and last year revealed that it has helped her find love.

On her spin-off series The Chasers Road Trip, the host revealed that the longest relationship she’d ever been in was four months and she ended it because she “wasn’t good” at giving him the right amount of attention.

He went on to joke that he is “basically a cyborg” after learning that he has an emotional intelligence level of just 1%.
