Charlize Theron calls for better representation in Hollywood as ‘a mother of two little black girls’

Charlize Theron calls for better representation in Hollywood … while claiming to be “the mother of two little black girls.”

Charlize Theron has become one of the busiest women in Hollywood, with some big titles.

And the Academy Award winner has also proven over the years to be a supportive mother to her two daughters.

She recently called for better representation in Hollywood as ‘a mother of two little black girls’ while promoting her new Netflix movie The Old Guard.

The 44-year-old said on the podcast The big ticket: “I want more representation, just selfish, for my own girls.

“I want that for the world too, but of course it starts with the fact that I am a mother of two little black girls, and I want them to grow up in a world where they see themselves, where they realize they can be who they are because they see it.

“And that’s not only in the cinema, but also in life. I want to surround them in a world where they feel that they belong and that they can shine and that they can live optimally. ‘

Theron adopted her daughter Jackson in March 2012 and later adopted another daughter in July 2015.

The Atomic Blonde star also gave some advice on how to address the lack of integration in the film industry.

Theron continued, “I think I’m calling them out, and I think we’re now in a place where we feel brave enough to do that … If we have to put a shame on us, we should do that. If we keep silent, even though we are not the ones who don’t make the right decisions, and we keep silent, we are just as guilty and use our votes.

“And if we know situations that we know people don’t use to their full potential to rethink this world we’re talking about, and they don’t actively and proactively, we have to call them on it. That is our responsibility. ‘

Theron revealed that she was surprisingly never approached for an MCU role: “I swear to God. I never got anything. No, I’m not lying to you. But that’s okay. You know what? I make my own way. I create my own opportunities. So it’s okay. ‘
