The mother of murdered schoolgirl Charlise Mutten had sex and injected methamphetamine with the man accused of murdering her daughter, just hours after he allegedly killed her.

Kallista Mutten, 40, became emotional as she told the jury that her daughter had earlier asked her if she could “go to daddy” before he allegedly shot her and stuffed her body into a barrel.

Ms Mutten took the witness stand on Monday to give evidence against her ex-partner Justin Stein in the NSW Supreme Court in Parramatta on Monday.

Stein, 33, faces trial after pleading not guilty to murder but admitting to disposing of the schoolgirl’s body.

He is accused of murdering his ex-fiancee’s daughter on his parents’ property before dumping her body, which was hidden in a plastic barrel, near the Colo River area.

The girl was visiting her mother during the school holidays and spent her time in New South Wales split between Stein’s family property in Mount Wilson, where she was allegedly shot dead, and at a caravan park called Riviera Ski Gardens in Lower Portland approximately 1.5 hours. far.

Mutten broke down in tears during her testimony Monday when she told the court that Charlise had asked her if she could “go to daddy” on the day police allege she was murdered.

Kallista Mutten, 40, took the witness stand on Monday to testify against her ex-partner Justin Stein in the New South Wales Supreme Court.

The 40-year-old woman entered court dressed in a black long-sleeved shirt, a navy skirt and black heels as she testified against her ex-partner, with her blonde hair hanging over her shoulders.

“He told me he had to go back to the Blue Mountains, to Mount Wilson, to let this auctioneer in instead of his mother because she was selling antiques,” Mrs Mutten explained.

‘Charlise had finished swimming in the pool and said, “Can I go with dad, mom?”

She told the court he said: “Yes, of course.”

McKay alleges that Stein was the “last person” to see Charlise and had the opportunity to see her between 7:16 pm on January 11 and 10:06 am on January 12.

The next day, the jury heard that Charlise had woken up vomiting and was left at Mount Wilson, supposedly in the auctioneer’s care, while Stein traveled to pick up Ms Mutten.

Mutten told the court that Stein had called her to explain the situation and was told that the woman had “three kids and is practically like a nurse, so Charlise was in good hands.”

Prosecutor Ken McKay SC told the court that Stein had sent a text message to Ms Mutten on the morning of January 12 saying “pack an overnight bag”.

“To be honest, I thought he was setting us up to elope… that was the surprise they had for me, so I wasn’t too sure,” Mrs Mutten said.

She told the jury that after Stein picked her up at the caravan park, they traveled to Sydney, where they bought methylamphetamine, injected it in a nearby park and had sex.

The couple then traveled back to the caravan park, where Mutten said they would become “intimately intimate” again.

“He told me that she (the auctioneer) was happy to look after her (Charlise) even during the night and that we have some time to spend together,” Mrs Mutten said.

“We were going to be intimate again and spend the night together, but I was too worried about Charlise, so I wanted to go back to the mountains.”

They returned to the Mount Wilson property and arrived at 8:44 pm and found no lights on in the house.

Mutten told the jury he didn’t think it was strange until Stein said it was.

He said he was “trying to be rational” about where Charlise was and assumed the auctioneer had taken her daughter because she was unwell.

The jury heard that the barrel containing Charlise’s body was found on January 18, 2022, after police responded to the scene after searching Stein’s phone.

Stein’s attorneys allege that it was Mutten who shot and killed his daughter on the night of January 12, 2022.

Phone calls recorded while Stein was in prison were played for the jury at the beginning of the trial, where he was heard warning his mother that she couldn’t tell her “everything over the phone.”

In the first phone call, which took place on the morning of February 5, 2022, he told Annemie Stein that the police had approached him to ask the location of the murder weapon and where Charlise was killed.

“They don’t even know anything,” he said in the recording.

Annemie told her son, “No, but she wasn’t killed at Mount Wilson,” to which Stein replied, “I know.”

The mother continued: “But they claimed that was the case.”

“Alleged doesn’t mean shit, all it means is I’m going to beat the murder charge,” Stein responded.

Another call was made to the jury on February 10, 2022, where Stein said that Ms. Mutten “is going to be charged for everything.”

He doubled down that “it’s the truth” and told his mother that the police have “nothing” and can’t “identify” him for the murder, but that he “saw it” happen.

The trial continues before Judge Helen Wilson.
