Charles Barkley and Gayle King’s weekly talk show on CNN has been brutally axed after just six months due to its terrible ratings.
The basketball Hall of Famer and longtime journalist headlined a weekly show called ‘King Charles’ that only launched in November, but it struggled to gain viewers.
Airing at 10 pm ET on Wednesday nights, data showed it was behind reruns of ‘Friends’ and ‘South Park’ in viewing figures.
Nielsen data shows the basketball Hall of Famer and longtime journalist’s show had the lowest-rated weekday primetime series debut on CNN in the past 10 years.
According to the New York Postone source said the show was affected by Barkley’s schedule.

Barkley told DailyMail.com last year that he only considered doing the show to work with King.
He was only available to film on Wednesdays due to his other commitments as an NBA analyst.
Barkley told DailyMail.com in March 2023 that he only considered the offer to work with King because he has “a lot of love and respect for him.”
“I’m not looking to be on TV anymore,” Barkley told DailyMail.com on the streets of Manhattan.
‘I felt a lot of love and respect for Gayle. She’s the only reason I’m considering it.
Since its premiere in November, ratings for ‘King Charles’ have dropped approximately 20 percent. Its first episode attracted 500,000 viewers.
The 14 episodes broadcast generated an average audience of 459,000 viewers, according to Nielsen data.
In October 2022, Barkley signed a new 10-year deal worth more than $100 million with TNT to host ‘Inside the NBA’ after flirting with the idea of joining Saudi-backed LIV Golf.
