Chapel St in Melbourne is closed after fire breaks out at nightclub

A fire has destroyed a nightclub on Melbourne’s iconic Chapel Street.

The fire at The Lux Nightclub started shortly after 2:00 am and has since been brought under control by firefighters.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that men wearing balaclavas were seen on the roof of the building shortly before the fire started.

Chapel Street remains closed in both directions, causing disruption to traffic in the area.

Police are investigating the incident.
