Channing Tatum will star in a new true crime movie called Roofman.

The Magic Mike star, 45, who is engaged to Zoe Kravitz, will play the “eccentric and charming” serial thief Jeffrey Manchester, who broke into more than 60 McDonald’s in the late 1990s and early 2000s, punching the roof and falling.

Deadline reports that the film will be directed by Derek Cianfrance, who also wrote the script.

The thriller’s synopsis reads: “Roofman will tell the remarkable story of Jeffrey Manchester, an eccentric and charming serial thief who broke into more than 60 McDonald’s overnight through their rooftops and then emptied the cash register in the morning after carrying staff to the freezers.

“The former U.S. Army Reserve officer became known as the Roofman or Roofman, and was known for his kind demeanor and rarely resorting to violence.”

Manchester was convicted and imprisoned in 2000 before escaping and “hiding for months in a Toys ‘R’ Us and Circuit City store in North Carolina.”

Manchester was reported to have survived by eating baby food and riding his bicycle for exercise at the toy store.

Fingerprints left on a Catch Me If You Can DVD in Circuit City led to his recapture in 2005 and he was convicted on numerous charges and sentenced to more than 40 years in prison.

The film will focus on the criminal’s escape, which lasted months.

The news comes after Tatum gave his nearly 17 million Instagram followers a behind-the-scenes look at his other upcoming film, Blink Twice, late last month.

In one photo, Tatum’s fiancée Zoe, who is making her directorial debut with the project, interacted with Naomi Ackie and Alia Shawkat, who will appear in the film.

The actor also shared a video of the 35-year-old actress-turned-director working with her team on set.

To engage his audience, Channing wrote in the caption: ‘MISS DIRECTOR IN ACTION!! ABSOLUTELY CRUSHING IT. I CAN’T WAIT FOR EVERYONE TO SEE IT.’
