The Channel Seven entertainment presenter performed a bizarre stunt that left his interviewees raising their eyebrows.

Steve Hargrave, an English host known for his unique celebrity interviews and red carpet moments, sat down with A Quiet Place: Day One co-stars Joseph Quinn and Lupita Nyong’o.

But the talk got off to an awkward start when Hargrave, 46, shushed the actors in reference to the film in which the characters must remain absolutely silent during an alien invasion.

“Hey Steve,” Quinn began the interview before the host silenced him and put a finger in his mouth.

Hargrave then held up some pieces of paper that said: ‘Hello Lupita and Joseph… I’m too scared to talk.’

The three sat in more than 15 awkward seconds of silence, as Quinn looked at her co-star Nyong’o before the interviewer put up a sign that read, “Well, this is awkward.”

The actors let out a nervous laugh before Hargrave officially began the interview.

Hargrave has had her fair share of embarrassing celebrity interviews on Sunrise over the years, but she doesn’t top former Seven star Samantha Armytage’s parody of Sex and the City star Kristin Davis.

The 47-year-old made headlines in 2016 after a skit with Davis, in which Armytage wore a curly blonde wig and pretended to play Sarah Jessica Parker’s character Carrie Bradshaw.

The awkward segment, which was later criticized by Davis herself, led to the breakfast TV host receiving a barrage of violent threats on social media.

During the segment that aired eight years ago, Davis was asked to recreate a scene from Sex and the City in which her character announced her engagement to the other cast members.

Davis had appeared on the Seven show hoping to talk about his work with refugees in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

‘Oh, guys. “I don’t know what’s going on,” she said when asked to be in the play. “You guys really make me laugh.”

Armytage, Edwina Bartholomew and Natalie Barr dressed up for the role play.

Barr sported a short red wig to resemble the signature haircut of the character Miranda Hobbes, played by Cynthia Nixon.

Bartholomew, on the other hand, didn’t have to do much because her straight blonde hair already made her the Samantha Jones of the group.

Davis told the hosts after the sketch, “I just want you to know that I’ve never done this.” Frankly, I don’t know if this is a great idea. No offense.’

He later complained on Twitter that he was not given enough time to talk about his charity work during his appearance on Sunrise.

‘I hope someone lets me talk about @Refugees,’ the actress tweeted.

Speaking about the incident years later, Armytage revealed that she never wanted to do the “silly” skit, but felt pressured into participating by Sunrise producers who thought it would be funny.

“The day before that (parody), up in the office, when the producers said, ‘We’re going to do this tomorrow,’ I thought, ‘Really? That’s so boring,” he told the Brains Trust podcast in 2021.

‘There were days when I thought, ‘I have a college degree in journalism, do I really have to do these things?’ But you do it because it’s your job.’
