Channel Nine’s new cooking show Snackmasters is labeled by viewers as ‘Australia’s longest Hungry Jacks ad’


Snackmasters, Channel Nine’s new cooking show, debuted Monday night.

Hosted by MasterChef star Poh Ling Yeow, Australia’s top chefs try to recreate some of the country’s most iconic snacks.

But viewers watching at home were disappointed with what they saw, and many compared it to a lengthy ad for hamburger chain Hungry Jacks.

One person tweeted: ‘How incredibly low have our standards become that we actually accept this as a legitimate program’.

Another added: ‘What the hell is this production, scripting, product placement bullshit’.

Another said it felt like they were watching ‘Australia’s longest Hungry Jacks ad’ and another joined in: ‘A giant advertising extravaganza.’

Another tweeted: ‘Snackmasters is probably the most excruciatingly cringe-inducing show I’ve seen on the TV screen.

This makes a repeat of The Big Bang theory look like prime time SNL. We’d better all get free Hungry Jacks to match the absolute slop we’re looking at.”
