Channel Nine raised eyebrows after announcing that Olympic champions Ariarne Titmus and Jessica Fox are part of the network’s Australian Open 2025 coverage even though they have no experience covering tennis.
Both Titmus and Fox will look to bring color to the Melbourne Park spectators, and swimming’s golden girl is excited to step out of her comfort zone.
“I have always been a tennis fan and to have the opportunity to be at the Australian Open in this capacity is very exciting,” she said. News Corporation.

It comes as Australian star Nick Kryrgios is racing against the clock to be fit for his first round match as he battles an abdominal strain.
Local hope Alex de Minaur is ranked eighth and will be looking to get past the fourth round in Melbourne for the first time in his career.
Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz will surely be the crowd favorite as he chases a fifth Grand Slam title.
Titmus, who won gold in the women’s 400m freestyle and 4x200m freestyle relay at the Paris Games, won’t have to look far when it comes to valuable behind-the-camera advice.
His father Steve is a sports presenter for Seven News in Brisbane.
Nine has also lured back ‘Super Brat’ John McEnroe, at a venue where he was infamously disqualified for unsportsmanlike behavior as a player in the 1990 tournament.
McEnroe will join fellow American Jim Courier and Australians Todd Woodbridge and Jelena Dokic as key figures in Nine’s coverage.
Other confirmed commentators include local tennis personalities Lleyton Hewitt, Sam Stosur, Dylan Alcott, John Millman, Casey Dellacqua and Alicia Molik.
Meanwhile, polarizing star Nick Kryrgios is racing against the clock to get fit for his first round match as he battles an abdominal strain.
Kyrgyz took to Instagram on Wednesday to confirm that he will not take part in an exhibition event against Novak Djokovic on January 9, but will “do everything he can” to manage his injury.
“Unfortunately I won’t be able to play against my good friend (Djokovic) this Thursday because I had an abdominal ultrasound and I have a grade 1 strain,” Kyrgios posted to his 4.2 million followers.
“I’ll be resting and doing everything I can to be well.”
The Australian Open starts on January 12.
