Christine Ahern left viewers completely shocked when she revealed her AFL-themed tattoo plans live on Thursday.

The Channel Nine star joined AFL fans in Melbourne ahead of the Brisbane Lions’ clash with the Sydney Swans on Saturday at the MCG.

Christine spoke to a fan named Gemma, who took her dedication to the sport to a whole new level by getting Swans 2024 tattooed on her arm.

But Christine then shocked colleagues Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo by revealing she was also planning to get an AFL tattoo.

During the livestream, the football fan showed off a Lions tattoo she had printed on her wrist as she prepared to get the tattoo.

“Hahn has done such a fantastic job that I’ve decided to get a Brisbane Lions tattoo – I’ve got the little template there,” he joked.

Her revelation left her co-host Sarah, 38, in a spiral as she began begging Christine not to get the tattoo, while Alex Cullen looked equally horrified in the studio.

Only Karl, 50, joined in with Christine’s shocking idea as he punched his fist in the air and shouted: “Yes, Chris!” while laughing.

The Today Melbourne reporter was shown live on air lying down, ready to get inked as the tattoo artist got to work preparing the area.

“I’ll see you later with my Brisbane Lions tattoo, I was going to get it on my neck,” he shared before the camera cut away.

Despite her daring antics, it didn’t appear Christine had actually gotten the tattoo, as photographs shared on her Instagram page only showed the purple stencil.

She also shared a snap of the tattoo gun seemingly working on her arm, however, it didn’t appear to have any needles or ink installed.

The highly anticipated AFL Grand Final is set to kick off on Saturday, with thousands of fans descending on Melbourne ahead of the big game.

Katy Perry will headline the pre-match show, while Cody Simpson will sing the national anthem.

And on Wednesday, Daily Mail Australia exclusively revealed that Tina Arena will also be showcasing her vocal talents on the sports show.

Organisers hope it will create another memorable TV moment after Delta Goodrum performed with Robbie Williams in an iconic show at last year’s final.

It is not known whether Tina, who sings in English, Italian, French and Spanish, will take the stage for pre-match, half-time or post-match entertainment.

Tina, known for her hit single Burn and her cover of Don’t Cry for Me Argentina, has been brought in after plans for Kylie Minogue to perform reportedly fell through.

Katy remained coy about Tina’s involvement during an interview on The Fox’s Fifi, Fev & Nick, cheekily saying: ‘You’ll have to wait and see.’

However, he later joked: “All I know is that she’s a fellow Scorpio… and she’s great.”
