Today presenter Richard Wilkins, 68, is moving from Channel Nine television to a ‘digital exclusive’ online series following rumors of his retirement
Channel Nine veteran Richard Wilkins has launched a new interview series that will be shown exclusively on a digital platform 9Honey as he continues to scale back his TV appearances.
Dubbed Dickie’s Dairies, the series will revisit Wilkins’ archive of celebrity interviews including Madonna and Hugh Grant from his 35-year career with Nine..
It comes after sources indicated last year that Wilkins would reduce his on-screen time on Today after taking it the title of Network Entertainment Editor.
The first episode of Dickie’s Diaries highlights his meeting with pop star Prince in 2003.
Wilkins reveals that Prince was charming and outspoken behind the scenes, but was clumsy and reluctant to give answers when the cameras rolled.

Fans can also look forward to seeing Wilkins relive a famously difficult interview with Hugh Grant, an actor known for his irritability with the press.
In late 2022, rumors began to circulate that Wilkins was planning his retirement.
Currently, the show business guru is a regular reporter for Weekend Today, as well as occasionally appearing on the weekday edition.
Back in December 2021, Channel Nine boss Darren Wick was forced to make a statement saying Wilkins would return to TV following speculation that he was reducing his workload due to concerns about his health.

Wilkins’ encounter with Madonna will also be featured in Dickie’s Dairies
“Richard is completely fine. He is fighting fit and will be with us for many years to come,” Mr Wick said at the time.
Wilkins celebrated 35 years with Nine last May by throwing a poolside party at his home in Cremorne, Sydney, and inviting all his famous friends.
Sylvia Jeffreys, Lauren Phillips, Ben Fordham, Jayne Azzopardi and Tim Gilbert, among others, were all in attendance.
