Channel 7 senior journalist Robert Ovadia has been sacked by the commercial broadcaster following an internal investigation into allegations of inappropriate behaviour.

Sydney-based Ovadia, who has worked at the chain for 23 years, revealed on Friday that he had been fired by management.

“Yes, I have been sacked and there will be more to say about that in the appropriate forum at the appropriate time,” Ovadia told The Australian.

The station first removed Ovadia on June 7 while the investigation was underway.

A few days later it was reported that the allegations concerned emails exchanged between Ovadia and a former Seven colleague four years ago.
