Channel 7 was criticized by football fans during the AFL Grand Final, with viewers forced to endure crashes, delays and buffering on the broadcaster’s 7PLUS streaming service.
The broadcaster has exclusive rights to the deciding match between the Brisbane Lions and Collingwood Magpies at the MCG.
However, fans choosing to stream the game on the 7PLUS platform have reported crashes, lags, and extended buffering periods, even with high-speed internet connections.
Footy fans have complained about the quality of Channel 7’s 7PLUS streaming service for the AFL Grand Final.
“7plus is SO retarded,” one fan complained.
‘7Plus is Melbourne’s north of gaming streaming. What is fudge guys?! I can’t get the biggest sporting event of the year to load on my phone,” another posted.
“It’s crazy that it’s 2023, I’m on a 250 Mbps wired connection and the 7plus app is still so bad I can’t actually see the ball.”
Some supporters have abandoned the platform altogether.
“Okay, 7plus, it’s time for me to watch the game the way God intended. On the AFL score update page,” posted one tired supporter.
Others pointed out that the 7PLUS platform was working well, only the AFL coverage was breaking down.
“It’s not like 7plus is down because I can absolutely watch Million Dollar Listing,” one angry supporter posted.
And many pointed out that it wasn’t the first time streaming platform Channel 7 had let them down, after the broadcast of the FIFA Women’s World Cup was also fraught with problems.
“The @7plus site is truly horrible. I couldn’t broadcast the World Cup or the Grand Final. Pathetic,” one supporter posted.
