A high-profile Network Ten presenter has branded a fraudulent Wikipedia entry about him “completely false, malicious and highly offensive”.

Daily Mail Australia revealed on Wednesday that a shocking claim about Lachlan Kennedy was posted on his public profile on the online encyclopedia (which anyone can edit) last weekend.

“Lachlan Kennedy is an Australian journalist and news presenter,” the Wikipedia entry began. “He is best known for…”

The rest of the post cannot be published for legal reasons; a Ten spokesperson dismissed the unpublishable claim as “inaccurate” and “false” and there is no suggestion otherwise.

The rebellious edition came as Kennedy separated from his wife, naturopath Cassie Davenport.

He has recently been romantically linked to Channel Nine’s newly appointed federal political reporter, Liz Daniels.

Kennedy previously told Daily Mail Australia that the edit was “horrendous” but has now gone further and condemned the alleged lie.

Lachlan Kennedy and Cassie Davenport tied the knot in 2022 after welcoming their first child, Parker, but the relationship has since fallen apart.

Kennedy is considered one of the network’s “golden boys” and is a member of CNN.

“This is a private matter. Cassie and I love our children deeply and are committed to raising them together,” Kennedy said. Confidential.

‘We decided to keep our separation private, so we could work on being the best parents possible in the future.

The controversial paragraph was first added to Wikipedia on Saturday 13 July at 2:22 p.m. by an anonymous editor.

Moments later the controversial paragraph was deleted by another user who said “you would need evidence that he is better known for this.”

The defamatory message was added a second time, before being removed once again.

Following their relationship, Kennedy has been linked to Channel Nine federal politics reporter Liz Daniels.

A Network Ten spokeswoman said: “We have been informed that the claims contained in the screenshot of the Wikipedia post are inaccurate and false.”

In a statement to Daily Mail Australia, Ms Davenport said: “Lachlan and I are separated. We love and adore our children and are very committed to co-parenting.

“Lachlan is a great father to our children. As far as I know, the details written and circulated on the Wiki page are false.”

Daily Mail Australia asked Daniels to comment on her new romance. After a long pause, she said “no” and hung up the phone. No wrongdoing is suggested.

In recent weeks, Mr Kennedy, a father of two, has shut down most of his social media pages.

He has even deleted some posts that refers to his wife from his X account (formerly Twitter).

Mr Kennedy and Ms Davenport married in 2022 and are parents to a four-year-old and a six-month-old son.

Kennedy joined Network 10 as a reporter in 2010. In June 2022 he was appointed as one of the presenters of the network’s new national news bulletin.

Kennedy and Ms Davenport are believed to have met at Ten’s Pyrmont offices in 2017, where she worked as an executive assistant.

Like Mr Kennedy, Ms Daniels was also previously a political reporter for the state of New South Wales, covering events at the state parliament in Macquarie St, Sydney.
