Without a doubt, choose Following the trend of ’90s-style wired headphones (a must-have for those who crave nostalgic technology from a time when they may not have existed), Chanel has launched a “jewel watch,” in which the bracelet transforms into a necklace that hides a physical connection for the headphones.

The Première Sound Watch is a version of the brand’s model. Premiere watchCreated in 1987, but featuring a long sautoir necklace with detachable earpieces and a quaint 3.5mm jack; but fear not, the set also comes with 3.5mm to Lightning and 3.5mm to USB-C adapters, for those who prefer more up-to-date tech on their phones.

The whole “luxury meets luxury” thing Lana Del ReyThe creation of this watch (available Sept. 2) began two years ago as a sketch by Chanel watchmaking studio director Arnaud Chastaingt, who was experimenting with the concept of incorporating audio equipment into products worn as accessories. While Chastaingt and his team could handle the watch and necklace elements in-house, Chanel wisely turned to Master & Dynamic, a brand with experience collaborating with luxury brands including Louis Vuitton and Celine, for the audio expertise.

Speaking of which, the earphones feature a 6mm flat diaphragm and 11mm beryllium-coated dynamic drivers with a frequency response of 20Hz to 20KHz, so they’re not too shabby. The cable itself houses a remote for controlling volume, play/pause, answer/hang up, and skip forward and back, as well as a microphone for taking calls.

However, the wired earphones’ water resistance is only IPX3, meaning splashproof. The Première’s 18-karat yellow gold-clad quartz watch (with an octagonal case inspired by the stopper on the No. 5 perfume bottle) does much better, with a water resistance of 30 meters, should you be foolish enough to dive with a piece of portable audio jewelry that costs £12,600 in the UK or $14,700 in the US.

If Apple had known, when it removed the 3.5mm headphone jack from the iPhone in 2017, that it was going to start a backlash in the future where wireless earbuds like the ubiquitous AirPods would be seen as lame, full instagram channels It would be dedicated to young and modern people who show their youth and modernity by using wired headphones, looking modern at the same time and rejecting conventions, the best technologies, common sense and general comfort.

You see, you have to suffer through Y2K nostalgia. After all, how else can you remember what it was like to carry around a Walkman or a first-generation iPod when you weren’t there in the first place? Well, at least now, Chanel and Master & Dynamic have entered the scene, offering a stylish option for those who are growing tired of their impossible ingenuity of juxtaposing fancy clothes with cheap headphones.
