- Jockey Justin Huxtable was arrested in October
- Alleged youth complaint continues
- Huxtable was retired by racing stewards
- He won his appeal, strict conditions now apply
Australian jockey Justin Huxtable has received a bizarre punishment from Queensland racing authorities following a formal complaint from a young woman.
The talented hoopsman, who has ridden 419 winners in his career, has been banned from participating in pre- or post-race media interviews and also banned from traveling north to Rockhampton in Queensland.
Huxtable’s driving license was suspended by the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission last month when police arrested and charged him at Innisfail Racecourse.
Then, the stewards immediately removed him, according to The Herald of the Sun.
Huxtable was charged under section 227A of the Queensland Criminal Code, following an alleged complaint made against him by a young woman in relation to a breach of privacy.
Under the law, it is illegal for a person to visually observe or record another person in a situation where a reasonable adult would be expected to have privacy.
The incident is alleged to have taken place in August at the Cairns Cup Carnival.
The maximum penalty for the crime is three years in prison.
Justin Huxtable was arrested and charged last month following an alleged complaint filed by a young woman.
Huxtable, 24, will not be allowed to race north of Rockhampton in Queensland under strict conditions imposed.
QRIC Commissioner Catherine Clark said in October: “The QRIC’s role is to maintain the integrity of racing, so the jockey (Huxtable) will be removed from all other racing-related activities until further notice.”
Huxtable appealed his riding ban to the Queensland Racing Appeals Panel, which has since allowed the jockey to return, with strict conditions.
They include biweekly counseling that must be documented, access to urine test results for alcohol and drugs, and no on-track interviews during race day meetings.
Travel north of Rockhampton is also out of the question.
