Chamika Karunaratne gives Sri Lanka a glimmer of hope with brave 75 knock against Australia

Chamika Karunaratne gives Sri Lanka a glimmer of hope with brave 75 strokes that give Australia a 161 run target to win ODI dead rubber in Colombo

Australia have been given the seemingly simple task of chasing just 161 runs to end their ODI series against Sri Lanka with a respectable defeat.

Captain Aaron Finch took to Colombo on Friday and made the changes from the side that admitted defeat last time by introducing Josh Inglis for his ODI debut.

Sri Lanka holds an unassailable 3-1 lead in the ODI series after losing to the T20s 2-1 and opting to bat on the toss of the coins, but Josh Hazlehood, Glenn Maxwell and Matt Kuhnemann broke through the highest order, leaving the hosts 67-7 .

The visitors seemed destined to keep Sri Lanka below triple digits, but Chamika Karunaratne had other ideas.

The all-rounder amassed 75 strong runs to take his side to a total of 160, giving the Sri Lankan bowlers a small total to defend in Colombo.
