Nelson Thomas had his right foot amputated earlier this week, a year after his near-fatal car accident, but is now recovering at home after “three tough days” in hospital.
The Challenge star, 35, who was charged with DWI seven months after the crash on March 5, 2023, uploaded a video to TikTok on Thursday shortly after the procedure.
He recorded the clip from his hospital bed and gave his viewers a glimpse of his right leg after his foot amputation. She could be seen medics wrapping the amputated area with bandages.
In the caption, the TV personality wrote, “The moment I moved my knee for the first time, witnessing it in person, was truly extraordinary,” while adding the text “I’m truly blessed” above the reel.
At one point, Nelson revealed that he is “already talking to a coach about the (Paralympic Games) on August 24.”

The star began the video by joking: ‘At least they let me keep my good foot, right?’ her as she let out a laugh.
Nelson continued: ‘I’m home. Thank God. They were three hard days. The first two days I felt a lot of pain. When I entered that hospital I was very afraid.’
The MTV star then sweetly thanked her ‘loved ones’ and their support, including her mother and close friends.
‘I’m happy to be out of that hospital, man. “Being in that hospital was really…really not me, man,” Thomas admitted to his followers. “So, just being home and feeling good sitting on my couch.”
He then gave a little insight into the recovery process for the next few weeks and said, “I have to elevate my leg for the next six weeks.” And I have to take a couple of pills, I have to make sure I move it so it doesn’t get stiff.
While maintaining a positive attitude, Nelson remained candid, saying, “Believe me, it’s strange.”

‘Is rare. I still don’t know how I feel, but right now I know I’m home. And I’m happy and that’s the only thing that matters. I’ll take it day by day. And we’ll see how it goes,” she concluded while flashing a smile.
In the text added to the top of the clip, Thomas also wrote: “Thank you for all the support.”

And he concluded: ‘Get ready, world of amputations! I’m on my way! My surgery is scheduled for March 5, 2024.’
Along with the video, Thomas shared several photos of his recovery, including gruesome images of the accident and injuries.
The footage was converted to audio of a conversation between him and his doctor, coming to the conclusion that amputation is his best option.
“I think we’ve attacked this as much as we can,” he said, explaining that he wants to move forward with his healing journey.
Thomas said he had been wondering about his quality of life and talking to amputees to “move on” with his life.

Thomas claimed he had consumed “2-3 mixed alcoholic beverages,” but officers alleged The Challenge star had a “strong odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath” during subsequent treatment at the hospital.

On September 28, he was arrested again and had his mugshot taken, and then posted $5,000 bail.

“There are a lot of people out there, even friends, who call me, ‘Nelson, you have a chance to keep your footing, look normal and walk.’ But then you have to ask yourself, ‘What kind of quality of life do I want to live?'”
He added: “Everyone always tells people, ‘The light at the end of the tunnel,’ but no one tells you how long the tunnel is. They don’t tell you how dark it is or how hard it is.
‘But I want to attract people and show them not to be ashamed because they are shedding tears. Crying is good. It has helped me a lot. I don’t have all the answers for you right now, but I’m not hiding anything from anyone. This is what I am.’
