The Logies gravy train is over: Networks will no longer be paid a ‘bonus’ to bring stars to booze awards after it moved from the Gold Coast to Sydney, raising fears it will be a terrifying red carpet.
Channel Seven recently confirmed that the 2023 Logie Awards will take place in Sydney.
And now it’s been revealed that another major change is coming, with the networks no longer receiving lucrative payments as an incentive to bring in celebrities.
According the aussieTelevision networks will not be paid to bring stars to the awards show.
The Logies has been held on the Gold Coast since 2018 and Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk would offer each network $1,000 a head for each on-air star they bring to the event, capped at $75,000.
The Queensland government also offered up to $25,000 per network if they promoted the Logies on their channels.

However, Logies chief publicist Kelly Black reportedly emailed the networks to inform them that “the previous refund will no longer be in effect” following the awards move to Sydney.
Some network sources have raised concerns that this could result in a terrible red carpet event.
The awards show has been held on the Gold Coast since 2018 with the support of the Queensland government, but that arrangement ended in 2022.

It will be the first time the awards have been presented in Sydney since 1986.
Fan favorites home and away Ray Meagher and Ada Nicodemou joined The Voice star Sonia Kruger on Sydney Harbor to help make the announcement.
Sevens CEO James Warburton said: “The time was right to find a new home for the Logies and bringing them back to Sydney after more than 30 years made perfect sense.”

“Australia’s television networks and many of their major production companies are based in Sydney,” he added.
“And the city serves as the backdrop for some of the most popular television shows in the country. Seven has exciting plans for the Logies.
NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet hailed the announcement, declaring that the Logies’ move to Sydney would inject millions of dollars into the state’s economy.
“TV’s night of nights now has its rightful home in The Harbor City, showcasing the glitz and glamor of our vibrant nightlife,” he said.
