A female cyclist was rushed to hospital with head injuries after being hit by a car during rush hour at a busy intersection in the city.
Emergency services were rushed to the scene after receiving reports of a collision on the corner of Margaret and Kent streets in Sydney’s CBD shortly before 5pm on Thursday.
Police blocked off the area to protect the injured woman lying on the road.
The collision occurred in front of dozens of shocked spectators, who rushed to the cyclist’s aid and helped her until paramedics arrived.
The woman’s orange bicycle lying on the road next to her appeared to be intact.
The cyclist was hit by a car shortly before 5pm on Thursday in Sydney’s CBD.
Passersby and police helped the woman while waiting for paramedics to arrive.
The area has bicycle lanes on both streets located near where the woman was hit.
A New South Wales Ambulance spokesman told Daily Mail Australia that three crews were called to the scene.
“Paramedics treated a woman in her 30s for a head injury,” he said.
The cyclist was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital, where she is in a stable condition.
