A missing mother of three was in “good spirits” before mysteriously disappearing almost three weeks ago.

Celeste McGain, 40, was last seen at a Woodwark home near Airlie Beach in the Whitsundays region of northern Queensland around 2pm on May 25.

Three months earlier, she moved from northern New South Wales to live with her three children aged 18 to 25 and was reportedly in “good spirits” when loved ones last saw her.

Ms McGain left behind personal belongings, including her phone and bank card, on the day she disappeared.

She was reported missing on June 1 after her worried family spent a week trying to contact her and locate her whereabouts without success.

Queensland Police launched a public appeal on Wednesday.

While McGain’s disappearance is not considered suspicious at this time, there is growing concern for his well-being.

“As Celeste has not had any communication with members of her family, that raises obvious welfare concerns because she is out of character,” Acting Detective Sergeant Georgie Carland said.

‘We are concerned that Celeste has access to basic needs (including) food, water… as far as her well-being is concerned.’

‘Celeste has led a relatively private lifestyle and is known to travel without notifying her family, which adds challenges.

Acting Sergeant Carland made a desperate appeal to Mrs McGain on behalf of her sister Kate.

“We ask that if you are seeing this Celeste, you contact her family by whatever means you are comfortable with,” he said.

“I spoke to your sister Kate recently and she described the type of person you are as very kind and outgoing.”

“She is very worried, as are her children.”

Police launched a desperate appeal to locate Ms McGain and urged anyone with information to come forward.

Ms McGain is described as Caucasian, is 175cm tall, has brown eyes and curly brown hair.

She was last seen wearing a blue skirt and a white shirt.

Ms McGain was also seen at an employment agency in Cannonvale, a five-minute drive from Airlie Beach, on May 7.

It is not understood she traveled from the Woodwark property in a motor vehicle as she does not own a car.

“We urge anyone who knows Celeste or has had recent communication with Celeste, or any association with her, to contact police,” Detective Sergeant Carland said.

“Our target is anyone outside of Celeste’s immediate family who can provide police with further avenues of investigation to help locate her whereabouts,”

There are also no records of her taking a flight out of the region.

Residents living on Paluma Road and the surrounding neighborhood have been urged to review their CCTV or dash cam footage from May 24.

Anyone with information about Ms McGain’s disappearance is asked to call Policelink on 131444 or Crime Stoppers.
