Celeste Barber hits back at a model who demanded ‘credit’ for parody

Celeste Barber hits back at an Instagram model who said she should have asked permission to parody her video – then demands ‘due credit’

Celeste Barber has hit back at a Portuguese model and photographer who objected to the parody of her video.

The 39-year-old comedian shared a clip on Instagram on Wednesday in which she mocked Anastasia Young, who had previously posted a video of herself dancing with a coconut on the beach in a skimpy swimsuit.

While Anastasia looked quite graceful in her video, Celeste awkwardly danced with a roll of toilet paper in an apparent reference to Australian panic buyers.

Her message was captioned, “We all have that one buddy who gets weird with props.”

After Celeste’s version went viral, Anastasia left a comment saying she should have asked permission first and also demanded “due credit” for using her original footage.

Celeste had actually tagged Anastasia in the clip she shared with her eight million followers, but that apparently wasn’t enough for Anastasia.

‘I believe [it] would be fair if you ask us before using this video (for the second time already),” she wrote under the parody.

Or at least to give a proper mention in the description. Please kindly take it into consideration and contact me as soon as possible. Thank you.’

Under Australian law, Celeste probably wouldn’t need permission from Anastasia to use her video for parody purposes, as it would likely be considered “fair use.”

However, the laws may be different in Portugal or wherever Anastasia lives.
