Get sweating! The things you MUST do at the gym

The celebrity trainer came first, revealing that you should always wipe down your machine and put away any equipment you’ve used.

“Nothing is more irritating to both staff and other gym goers than going to a sweat-soaked machine or not being able to find the equipment you need because it’s not properly stored,” she said.

Get sweating! What you MUST do while exercising

  • Wipe your machine clean and store equipment
  • Use your phone as much as you want
  • Be nice to the staff and people around you
  • Say “hi” to your gym crush
  • Ask permission before filming
  • Keep the gym chat short
  • Let your instructor know if you will be late or need to leave early
  • Wear deodorant
  • Kindly ask to use something if someone uses it
  • Be spatially aware

By wiping and putting back everything you’ve used, you’re making others sweat too.

She added that if someone is using something you want, just “ask nicely.”

“If someone is using something you want, ask nicely how long they have left, let them finish their set in peace instead of watching them finish it,” she explained.

She then came to the rescue of anyone who likes to keep their eyes on their screens while getting in shape.

“Use your phone however you want, as a trainer I don’t care if you use your phone and sacrifice your own training,” she explained.

However, she added that you shouldn’t let your phone ruin someone else’s workout.

As for phones, the trainer revealed that you should always make sure no one else is in a video or photo unless you’ve been given permission.

“If you’re filming your workout, make sure no one else is in the video unless you have permission, and if you’re taking a class, ask the instructor first to make sure everything is safe,” she told DailyMail.com.

Likewise, Bec said you should always be nice to the staff, explaining that “kindness goes a long way.”

And the trainer noted that you should not only be nice to the staff.

Bec said, “Smile, be nice to people, tell someone they’re doing great.”

She explained that while those working out may look like they know what they’re doing, gyms can be “intimidating,” so you have to do your best to make those around you feel welcome.

And while you’re nice to those who get in shape around you as well, she revealed that you shouldn’t be shy when it comes to talking to your gym crush.

The celebrity trainer gave everyone permission when she said, “You’ll always regret not saying hi to the cute boy or girl aka your gym crush.”

She added that saying “hello isn’t scary.”

And while you should jump at the chance to say “hello,” Bec noted that you should keep talking to a minimum.

She explained that while those in the gym may look like they know what they’re doing, gyms can be “intimidating,” so you have to do your best to make those around you feel welcome.

She told DailyMail.com, “Understand social cues, keep gym chat short unless the other person encourages it.”

She also said that you should always wear deodorant and be spatially aware.

“Be spatially aware. Of course if the gym is empty then be as obnoxious as you want and take up all the space but if there are other people around the general rule is that you take up as much space as a yoga mat or two and never stand on one others people’s personal space,” she explained.

Finally, the famous trainer noted that you should always communicate with your instructor.

She told DailyMail.com, “If you need to leave a class early, try to notify the instructor before class starts, make sure you have a spot at the back, and leave discreetly.”

Stop! DO NOT commit these training sins

Bec then revealed the gym sins she sees way too often.

The first thing you should never do is spend too much on taking a “selfie.”

She said, “If you’re taking a selfie, don’t spend more than a few minutes doing it. It shouldn’t be as strenuous as the workout itself.”

And while you shouldn’t use the gym as your own personal photo booth, the trainer also revealed that you should never judge or roll your eyes at those who take progress photos.

“Don’t roll your eyes at someone taking a selfie unless they don’t adhere to the above and instead sit deep in a thirsty black hole for 15 minutes,” she explained.

And to stay with the theme of thirst traps, Bec said you should always be self-aware when it comes to the noises you’re making.

Time to exercise! What you should NEVER do at the gym according to a celebrity trainer

  • Answer a phone call on the speaker
  • Play your music too loud or loud
  • Expect the instructor to be your baby if you are late
  • Spend too much time taking a selfie
  • Roll your eyes at people taking pictures
  • Bring large metal water bottles to class
  • Make noises that sound like you’re having sex

She explained that “the sounds that come out of you during exercise” should never “sound like you’re having sex.”

And not only should you be concerned about the noises coming out of you, but you should also be wary of the noises your personal items are making.

For example, Bec said never to bring your big metal water bottle to a fitness class.

“Keep the swell bottle out of all group fitness classes, the sound of them falling over in class sends everyone into the deep end and the last thing anyone wants to hear,” she said.

And the same goes for your phone, Bec said never to play your music too loud or take a call on speaker because you’ll be disturbing others at the gym.

“Don’t play your music out loud, always use headphones, especially if you’re platooning or streaming a workout,” she explained.

Bec added, “No calls or facetimes on speakerphone. We literally don’t care what happened last night or what Janice did in the office today.”

Finally, the celebrity trainer said that you should always take responsibility for yourself.

She advised fitness enthusiasts to take the initiative to find out what happens in class if they are late.’

“Don’t baby the instructor, give you a special explanation and interrupt the lesson,” she said.
