Celebrity MasterChef semifinalists confirmed as Black Eyed Peas star misses Apl.de.Ap as Luca Bish and Amy Walsh impress the judges

Date:

The Celebrity MasterChef semifinalists were confirmed Friday as Luca Bish, Amy Walsh and Apl.de.ap battled it out for a spot.

The Black Eyed Peas rapper, 48, faced stiff competition from the Love Island star, 24, and the Emmerdale actress, 36, in the final heats of the BBC One show.

But unfortunately, Apl.de.ap left the judges, John Torode and Gregg Wallace, impressed with its dishes.

During the episode, the contestants had 75 minutes to cook two courses, with celebrity panelists John Partridge, Judi Love and Melanie Blatt tasting the food.

Apl.de.ap has chosen to present a shrimp soup as a starter and a rib eye with rice and lemonade sauce as a main course.

Amy impressed with her three-course shrimp and steak, while Luca left the judges stunned with his risotto and “technically challenging” chocolate moose.

Before the results, Luca said: ‘I think I pushed the boat as far as it could go. I just hope it justifies a place in the semi-finals.

“This comp, it gets you. I’m ready to put in some effort now.”

“I just don’t want to let myself down,” Amy added.

Meanwhile, Apl.de.Ap said, “Not 100 percent what I wanted, but I’m glad I was able to cook everything.”

Before going home, he added, “You know I’m a little sad, but I’m fine. I had a great time. I’d sign up again!’

It comes as Michael Praed reunited with his on-screen daughter on Tuesday’s episode of Celebrity Masterchef, competing against Emmerdale star Amy.

About their connection, Gregg Wallace asked Michael, “You seem to know Amy?”

To which he replied, “I spent three truly cherished years at Emmerdale and had the great honor of being Amy’s father.”

Gregg said, “So is there a healthy competitive position between you and Amy?”

Prompting Michael to joke, “Sure, I’d like to beat her,” to which John Torode joked, “Right, that’s a nice thing to say to your daughter.”

Michael and Amy battled Black Eyed Peas rapper Apl.de.Ap, Strictly’s Dianne Buswell and Love Island’s Luca in the final round of the heats.

But it was dancer Dianne who was eliminated from the competition as the others advanced to the next round.

She said as she left, “I feel gutted to be the first to go home, eliminations hit me!” but they get me, even though I’m used to it!’

Elsewhere in the episode, Amy burst into tears in an emotional moment when she told judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace why she decided to take part in the show.

As she prepared her first dish, Gregg walked up to her and asked why she wanted to take on the challenge.

She instantly woke up and lost her words before telling him that after becoming a mother to her daughter Bonnie with fiancé Toby Alexander-Smith two years ago, she wanted to do something for herself.

Amy explained as she wiped away her tears, “I just wanted to do something for myself. I want to prove to myself that I can do something good. I don’t know why I get emotional!

“I think you lose yourself and kind of forget who you are when you’ve been away from all that and then this opportunity came along and I could have run a mile.

“I’m so absent from work that I’m usually in a tracksuit in the playpen and my baby eats baked potatoes 90 percent of the time, because it’s easier!”

When she later received great feedback for her fish and tomato dish, Gregg told her, “You should enjoy your cooking more and just believe in yourself!”

She then again impressed with her curry and lemon posset during the dinner challenge.

Celebrity MasterChef continues on BBC One on Friday at 9pm.
