“Oh, she’ll make it through, you can’t let a dog die on television,” Tom said to Anne Marie as the dog howled in pain.

Noel was able to successfully perform surgery on the dog, leading to a full recovery, with the dog back on the run by the end of the episode.

Elsewhere in the episode, daytime TV host Lorraine Kelly surprised her 26-year-old daughter Rosie Smith when she admitted she was in love with Spock from Star Trek.

Lorraine, 61, told Rosie she’s never had a secret crush: “I haven’t really had a secret crush. I mean [I had] a huge crush on Mr. Spock from Star Trek.’

Lorraine’s unimpressed daughter interrupted, “That’s weird,” to which Lorraine replied, “It’s not weird.”

It was reported last week that Channel 4 bosses were delighted to see Tom joining the show, which follows a host of stars reviewing the latest TV programmes.
