With no urgency on a new deal amid his holdout, CeeDee Lamb offers perfect response to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones: 'lol'

Contract negotiations between the Dallas Cowboys and star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb do not appear to be going well.

On Thursday afternoon, things spilled over onto social media after a quote from Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones caught Lamb’s attention. While it was taken a bit out of context, Lamb is clearly not happy with it.

He even went so far as to remove “America’s Team” from his bio.

Lamb has been avoiding training camp this summer as he works toward a new long-term contract with the Cowboys. He is entering the final year of his rookie deal with a fifth-year option worth $17.9 million. By comparison, Minnesota Vikings star Justin Jefferson reset the market with a four-year, $140 million extension earlier this summer.

Lamb is coming off a spectacular season with the Cowboys, where he had 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns on 135 receptions. He helped Dallas reach the playoffs for the third consecutive season, although the team was eliminated in the wild-card round.

It’s still unclear how far the two sides have gone in their negotiations as the Cowboys approach their first preseason game this weekend, but Lamb has not yet participated with the team at camp in Oxnard, California.

“We’re doing a great job and making real progress,” Jones said Thursday, via Nick Harris of the Cowboys“I don’t think we’re losing pace from where we are now.”

Jones was then asked if there is “a sense of urgency as the offseason begins to get something done” with Lamb.

“No,” he replied plainly, which was what Lamb objected to. Jones was then asked why, and, well, he gave an answer that only he could give and that didn’t really explain anything.

While Jones may not be eager to get the deal done, at least one Cowboys star, who is also awaiting a new contract, is ready to welcome Lamb back.

“I know everyone wants to ask, I have a lot of urgency to make it happen,” quarterback Dak Prescott said. saying on Thursday.

When the deal with Lamb will be finalized, it seems, is still unknown.
