Polish development studio CD Projekt Red has revealed that it will lay off about 30 employees by the end of 2023, with support for Gwent: The Witcher Card Game ending in 2024.
Advertised by Gwent blogAnd CD Projekt Red studio confirmed that about 30 employees working on the Gwent game will leave the studio at the end of this year.
Of course this contradicts the studio’s statement we shared with us last December, during which the Polish developer stated that a small number of staff would be retained to keep the game running while the remaining staff would be transferred to other projects at CD Projekt Red.
The studio stated via the game’s blog, saying:
It’s never easy to say goodbye, and although decisions like this are unavoidable and a natural consequence of the transition process, we’d like to express our sincere thanks for all the contributions our team members have made to Gwent. Just like the community, they helped us make the game what it is now.
