Vernon Unsworth said he was preparing to take legal action against the Tesla billionaire imminently. The 63-year-old man is considering using Thai courts because he could give a jail sentence to Mr Musk
A British diver who helped rescue children trapped in a Thai cave is suing Elon Musk for calling him a child rapist.
Vernon Unsworth said he was preparing to take legal action against the Tesla billionaire imminently.
The 63-year-old man is considering using the Thai courts because they could give Mr Musk a prison sentence. He is also reflecting on the defamation procedures in London and the United States where the tycoon stands.
The St Albans diver in Hertfordshire described Mr. Musk's accusations that he had a girlfriend and had moved to an area known for child sex trafficking as "100%" fake.
"I have been told to be very careful because this guy can do anything to complicate my life," he said.
Mr Musk accused Unsworth of being "a paedo" during the rescue of 12 schoolchildren from the cave complex of Tham Luang Nang Non.
Earlier this week, he renewed his unfounded attack by telling a journalist to stop defending the "child rapists" and claimed that Unsworth had moved to Thailand to have a "girlfriend girl who was around 12 at that time "
Mr. Unsworth's girlfriend, Woranan Ratrawiphukkun, 40, said yesterday that she was not a "promised girl." She met him seven years ago, when she was at least 32 years old.
He runs a nail salon and lives with Mr. Unsworth in the field in Chiang Rai, near the cave rescue scene.

She told the Times: "The news that you're married to a 12-year-old is ridiculous. From now on, everything will proceed according to the law. Vern is a kind person. He rarely has an argument with anyone, and everyone loves Vern. If he was not a good man, we would not be together. "
Mr. Unsworth was the first foreign rescuer in the cave drama scene. He had an intimate knowledge of the tunnel system in which the 12 schoolboys and their trainer were trapped.
But he incurred the wrath of Musk when he said that a mini submarine proposed by the magnate to help in the rescue had absolutely no chance of working, and described the offer as a publicity stunt.
Mr. Musk did not provide proof of his initial jibe and then erased the messages and apologized.

However, the attack has continued in astounding emails to a BuzzFeed journalist.
In emails, which Musk, 47, claimed were not registered, said Unsworth was "an old white man from England who has been traveling or living in Thailand for 30 to 40 years, mostly Pattaya Beach, until he moved to Chiang Rai for a girlfriend who was about 12 years old at that time.
He suggested that Pattaya and Chiang Rai were key points of the child sex industry and added: "I hope you sue me."
Unsworth said he had never visited Pattaya or any other area of Thailand with a similar reputation for depravity. "What Mr. Musk is saying is that any foreigner living in Thailand is a paedo type," he added. "I've never been to places like Phuket, I've never been to Pattaya, I've never been to any of the islands."
Mr. Unsworth, a financial agent, divides his time between the United Kingdom and Thailand. He is represented by the defamation attorney based in the United States, Lucian Wood.
"Musk can tweet his vindictive and vicious lie hundreds of times and it will still be a lie," said Mr. Wood. "Pedophilia is a problem too serious to be left without competition."
