She said: & # 39; They do that and they do not [watch my films.] My son gave me a great career advice a few years ago, he said, "Mom, when are you going to make a blockbuster?"

She continued: & # 39; I said, "I was in Lord of the Rings!" And he said, "Yes, about 30 seconds." So it did not really count. I did not have brownie points with my children. & # 39;

Cate is mother of sons Dashiell John, 16, Roman Robert, 14, Ignatius Martin, 10, and adopted daughter Edith, four, with husband Andrew Upton, 52.

Jack Black, who is also sitting on the couch, added: "My boys, they actually prefer the work of Will Ferrell. I think it's normal for children to think that their parents are really uncool and embarrassing. & # 39;

Cate and Jack – who will turn 50 next year – talked about whether they would celebrate their milestone birthdays.

Cate says: & # 39; We will be 100 together! Maybe we should hold a Tenacious D concert for my birthday? I would love that. Would you sing at my party? & # 39;

Jack says: & # 39; Yes, what do you want to hear? & # 39; before the pair agreed that Jack would sing their classic, Tribute.

Cate also spoke with Jonathan about life in the United Kingdom and why she chose a home from her native country, Australia, in London.

She joked: "I came back just in time for the Brexit. It's all my fault! & # 39;

For the real reason that she moved to the UK, she said: & # 39; I just think you'll come across a field in my country and you'll be killed by some sort of snake or sued by a huge [animal.] It is much healthier here … pigs, chickens. & # 39;

Cate previously revealed her feelings about the prospect that her children follow in her footsteps.

She told Harper's Bazaar this month: "I think if I was in another profession, if I were a lawyer, or a doctor, or an architect, perhaps, or if I had a profession that I actually could use in Armageddon, then there would be a feeling that that would be a big and expected something.

& # 39; My children certainly do not want & # 39; the son of & # 39; and I know that my feisty daughter is not & # 39; the daughter of & # 39; wants to be … And there is more rejection than acceptance. & # 39;

And although she likes to know which paths her descendants will take, she also doubts about her future on the big screen.

This fall she plays in the children's movie The House with a Clock in its walls, but Cate admitted to the magazine that she is not sure how long she will continue to act.

She said: I do not know what I'm going to do as an actor now, I never really do it. But I feel that there are still a few years left before I lose my common sense. & # 39;

The second episode of The Jonathan Ross Show aired on Saturday at 9:45 PM on ITV.
