Cat Deeley outraged fans with her behavior

Cat Deeley outraged fans with her “shocking and disrespectful” behavior during Monday’s Remembrance Day silence.

At 11 a.m. the nation remained silent for two minutes as they reflected on the service and sacrifices the Armed Forces have made.

The silence was noted by ITV’s This Morning as cameras focused on memorial services in Cardiff, Edinburgh and Belfast, as well as Westminster Abbey.

The broadcast then returned to the Cenotaph, where servicemen and women continued to pay their respects and observe the silence.

However, before the two-minute silence officially ended, ITV returned to the This Morning studio and Cat Deeley said: “Incredibly moving scenes there, you’re watching This Morning on ITV1.” Ben McBean has stayed with us.

Viewers were quick to express their displeasure at the time, taking to X, formerly Twitter, to call Cat “shocking and disrespectful.”

They also disagreed with her choice of words, noting that Cat had said it was time to “go celebrate now with the rest of everyone at the memorial.”

Viewers wrote: ‘Can I tell you Cat, it was a moment to remember, not to, as you said, “celebrate”? Enough of this disrespectful nonsense, please. #ThisMorning’;

‘ITV even interrupted the two minutes of silence. Lack of respect everywhere. What a shame @ITV #ThisMorning’; Well done #ThisMorning for breaking the two minute silence before it was over… How disrespectful!’;

‘#this morning two minutes of silence once a year is too much to ask to recognize the debt we owe to those who fought for our freedom. Shocking decision.’;

Cat had introduced the segment by explaining: ‘Let’s go celebrate now with the rest of everyone at the memorial.

“It is November 11 and as we approach 11 o’clock, it is time for us to pay our respects and join the nation in a two-minute silence where we will remember those who served and continue to serve our country.”

The Duchess of Edinburgh was among those to pay their respects on Remembrance Day as she solemnly read a poem at a service in Staffordshire.

Sophie, 59, married to Prince Edward, 60, attended the Armistice service at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire this morning.

Alongside Sophie, thousands of veterans, serving personnel and members of the public gathered at the Armed Forces Memorial base this morning to pay their respects to “those who have served and sacrificed for the country”.

The National Memorial Arboretum was opened by the late Queen Elizabeth II in 2007 and is designed in such a way that at exactly 11:00 a.m. on November 11, a ray of light falls on the bronze crown in the center.

Ever elegant, Sophie laid out a wreath to mark Armistice Day, with a message written in her wild handwriting: “In memory of our fallen.”

After the service, the Duchess visited the memorial and read the 16,000 names of those in the Armed Forces who died in the line of duty.

The service comes after Sir Keir Starmer announced more than £10 million to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day and VJ Day.

The Prime Minister has promised a “moment of national reflection” in 2025, with events on May 8 to mark the 80th anniversary of the Allied victory in Europe, and also on August 15 to mark the end of the Second World War.

Ahead of the ceremony, Sir Keir said it was “an honor to be in Paris to join President Macron in tribute to the fallen of the First World War who made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedom we enjoy today”.

He added: “These events are vital to ensuring that the memories of millions of young soldiers, sailors and airmen live on for generations to come.

“That is why this Government will bring the nation together in a moment of national reflection to mark the 80th anniversaries of VE and VJ Day next year, fulfilling our commitment to strengthen community spirit and cohesion and remember the fallen.”

Commenting on Remembrance weekend, Sir Keir said “the courage and sacrifice of so many people down the generations” unites the country on Remembrance Day “in a spirit of the deepest gratitude and respect”.
