President Joe Biden told NBC’s Al Roker that his favorite memories from his time in the White House are of his grandchildren ‘sneaking up’ and jumping into bed with him and first lady Jill Biden.

Roker interviewed the president and first lady on the Truman Balcony Monday morning to kick off the White House’s annual Easter egg round.

The veteran NBC meteorologist asked Biden what his favorite memory was from his three-plus years living at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

“Our children jump in bed with us, our grandchildren, when they are here,” Biden responded. ‘They sneak up and get into bed with us. That’s my favorite memory. They love. They love to walk through the hallways. There are two floors upstairs, lots of bedrooms, the private residence and they love going down.’

Of the president’s seven grandchildren, only two are boys, Baby Beau, who just turned four on March 28, and five-year-old Navy Joan Roberts, whom the president publicly acknowledged for the first time in July.

His five other grandchildren, Hunter’s three other daughters, and the late Beau Biden’s son and daughter, are all adults, the youngest being 18-year-old Hunter, who is a senior in high school.

Naomi Biden, 30, Hunter Biden’s eldest daughter and the president’s eldest granddaughter, married at the White House in November 2022.

During the brief interview, the president also shared his favorite moment from the three White House Easter egg rolls.

The Easter egg list was canceled during Biden’s first year in office in 2021, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

“Well, my favorite memories, there was a little girl who was having trouble with her eggs, and she looked at me, she’s about 3 years old, and she asked me, ‘Can you help me, Mr. Pwesident?'” Biden recalled, imitating a little boy’s voice. .

Roker, 69, pointed out how the Easter egg list began in 1878 during the administration of President Rutherford B. Hayes, and joked, “I think I knew him.”

“He was a classmate of mine,” added Biden, 81.

Biden also talked about how special it is to open the White House to the public, noting that 40,000 Americans had been invited this year.

“It’s the biggest ever,” he boasted.

“This is his place,” he added. “And it always makes me feel good to look out and see average Americans just walking around and watching what’s going on because they own it, they own it.”

He said the same thing to Roker, “this is your friend from home,” and the weatherman told him he was going to stop by the White House kitchen.

Roker then invited the president and first lady to join him at Ben’s Chili Bowl, a D.C. institution on U Street, which serves chili-smoked stockings.

Biden joked that he would come.

“Like a poor relation, I show up when I’m invited,” the president said.
