The ARIA-winning star, 45, posted images on Instagram showing him wearing a neck brace and his Jeep smashed up.
“I’m just being transparent to let you know that my daughter Charli and I were involved in a pretty serious car accident last night,” he said.
‘We were on the way home, stopped at a traffic light and an uninsured driver in a 4×4 rear-ended us at 70km/h… which then slammed us into the car in front of us.
“We were both taken to hospital and today we were feeling pretty sore and sorry for ourselves with a concussion, some cuts and bruises and some pretty nasty whiplash, but luckily we were able to step away to tell the story.”
Barnes added that it looked like his Jeep was going to be written off.

Barnes will be next to play on the Meatstock BBQ festival tour kicking off in New Zealand at the end of February.
“It’s definitely one of the scariest things that’s ever happened to me, especially when you’re a parent and one of your kids is involved,” he added.
‘Thankful to both of them and the police for looking after us so well. Please stay safe on the roads.
