Casemiro admits there is ‘NO POINT’ Man United even thinking about winning titles or the Champions League right now… as the Brazilian says their poor form keeps him awake at night

Casemiro has admitted that “it makes no sense” to even think about titles or the Champions League at Manchester United at the moment.

The Brazilian midfielder, who has struggled to capture his best form all season, has revealed he has suffered sleepless nights as Erik ten Hag’s side lurch from one poor performance to the next.

Last week, United dropped seven points from winning positions at the end of Premier League games against Brentford, Chelsea and Liverpool.

They are sixth in the table, some 22 points behind leaders Arsenal and 11 behind Tottenham in fourth and Aston Villa in fifth as they desperately try to reach Europe’s top competition.

Casemiro, 32, won five Champions League crowns and three LaLiga titles with Real Madrid, but is honest about United’s current trophy prospects.

‘It’s hard. This is the point that bothers me the most about not fighting for titles,’ he said. ESPN Brazil.

‘Being 20 points away from first place. Sometimes I can’t even sleep trying to think about doing something different. It’s reality.

“There is no point in thinking about (winning the) title or Champions League places, we have to think about today’s games.

‘We have to think about it day to day, we had the opportunity to score nine points in the last games and we scored two. We were upset.

“We have to think game by game and focus on the next game, against Bournemouth.”

It came after arch-rivals United and Liverpool recorded a thrilling 2-2 draw at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

Luis Diaz put Liverpool in front during a first half which they totally dominated, only for Bruno Fernandes to score from inside his own half shortly after the break.

Kobbie Mainoo then put United in front for a start-to-finish second period, only for a late Mohamed Salah penalty to salvage a point for the title chasers.

Casemiro was satisfied with United’s response to the problems Liverpool caused.

He said: ‘The game (vs Liverpool) was very fast and well played. A classic. We were playing against one of the leaders of the competition and they are having a good time. We responded well.

‘Both teams had opportunities. The game was good. At home we are strong, but we play against a great team. “We have to think about the next game.”

In addition to their goal of finishing as high as possible in the Premier League, United are also in the semi-finals of the FA Cup, where they will face Coventry.

United will return to Premier League action on Saturday when they take on Bournemouth.
