Carrie Bickmore has paid tribute to her good friend who lost her battle with brain cancer.
In an Instagram post on Tuesday, the former Project star wrote an impassioned caption about her friend, Donna Nottage, alongside a video showing some of her happier moments before her death.
“Donna, I’m so sorry we couldn’t find a cure in time,” Carrie began her post.
‘It’s hard to believe that you climbed Point To Pinnacle with us just a few months ago and now you’re gone. What a brutal disease,” she continued.
‘Donna was an absolute ray of sunshine, determined to “See the Color” no matter what this horrible disease “Terry the Bastard” (as she called it) threw at her.’

Carrie continued: ‘She was determined to raise funds for vital brain cancer research to give her more time with her beautiful boys and to help others in the future. As you can see in this video, she supported our foundation every beanie campaign and it is devastating that Donna has passed away in the middle of our beanie week. We wear one in your honor Donna.
‘Our hearts go out to her husband Sean, the beautiful boys Huxley & Reeve whom she loved, mum Pauline and all her family’.
It’s a topic close to Carrie’s heart as she tragically lost her late husband Greg Lange to brain cancer in 2010.

She has continued his legacy by starting her own charity, Carrie’s Beanies for Brain Cancer.
The radio star has now fronted a new campaign for her charity, which she announced during her Gold Logie acceptance speech in 2015.
The radio host flaunted her figure in a light blue singlet, a matching colored beanie, dark blue sports tights and a jacket.

Greg died tragically in December 2010 aged 35 after a 10-year battle with brain cancer.
Speaking to Anh Do on his ABC series Anh’s Brush With Fame in 2018, Carrie revealed that Greg’s diagnosis in 2001 shattered her world.
‘It was about a year after we moved to Melbourne. I think I was still 21 or 22 and he was about 25. He had a seizure at home and one thing led to another and they diagnosed him with a brain tumour,’ she explained tearfully.

‘It was just… in your 20s, it’s just the last thing you ever can – I didn’t even really know anyone who had cancer, I didn’t know anything about brain cancer, neither did he.
‘It completely overturned everything we knew, everything we had planned, everything we believed… it just turned everything upside down.’
Not knowing what the future held for them, the couple had their first child together, Oliver, in 2005 – and Carrie admitted it was ‘probably the best thing we’ve ever done together’.
“It sounds so weird, but often I’ll see him in the shower, on the back of his body, and his frame is just a miniature version of Greg. They’re very, very similar. It was a big thing for both of us to have him and have that focus, she said at the time.
