A horrific crash between a pickup truck and a semi-truck on a rural highway sent both vehicles off the road and left one driver dead.
Emergency services received reports of a crash between two cars on the Mid-Western Highway at Carcoar, southwest of Bathurst in New South Wales, at about 1.25pm on Monday.
There they found the driver of the truck towing a trailer, a man in his 60s, dead at the scene.
The driver of a Pantech truck towing a horse-drawn float was unhurt in the accident, while two passengers, a boy and a girl, suffered minor injuries.
The Mid-Western Highway has been closed to heavy vehicles between Mandurama and Blayney as police launch an investigation into the collision.
While light vehicles are still permitted, drivers are urged to allow extra travel time as detours and hazardous road conditions remain.
The police will prepare a report for the coroner.
Anyone with information or dashcam footage relating to the crash is urged to contact police.
More to come.
