A Sept. 11 tribute by the Carolina Panthers was marred by comments from fans furious about the team’s performance in Week 1.

Carolina was decimated by its division rival, the New Orleans Saints, last Sunday, falling 47-10 on the road.

As a result, several fans decided to leave insensitive comments under the team’s Instagram post honoring those who lost their lives on 9/11.

Comments ranged from direct criticism of players and owners to harsher comments.

“This team makes me wish I was on those planes,” wrote one Instagram user.
